The vice president also credited Kirk for advocating for Vance's nomination for his current role, as well as his work to elect the Trump-Vance ticket and, later, staffing the administration. Calling Kirk a "true friend," Vance praised his Christian faith and love for his family, saying that while God didn't answer prayers to save Kirk, "He had other plans. And now that Charlie is in Heaven, I'll ask him to talk to [the] Big Man directly on behalf of his family, his friends, and the country he loved so dearly."
