The once-beloved country-themed restaurant known for its fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits and country charm has been ravaged by a woke mob of corporate executives and stylists. They renovated restaurants, discarded the "country" clutter, added vegan dishes to the menu, started serving booze and changed the logo—erasing the image of Uncle Hershel sitting next to a barrel.
The company literally removed the Cracker and the barrel from the logo.
Instead, Cracker Barrel said they were interested in appealing to a new demographic of diners. So, they opened a pop-up store in Brooklyn and invited Gen-Z social media influencers to sample their food. In response to that, the Tennessee company's stock plunged more than 9 percent.
"If the last few days have shown us anything, it's how deeply people care about Cracker Barrel. We're truly grateful for your heartfelt voices," Cracker Barrel said in a statement. Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino appeared on "Good Morning America" on Aug. 19, saying the company needed to refresh its restaurants and stores.
"Cracker Barrel needs to feel like the Cracker Barrel for today and for tomorrow," Masino said. "The soul of Cracker Barrel's not changing—the rocking chairs are still there, the fireplace is there, the peg game—all the things that make Cracker Barrel Cracker Barrel."
What she failed to mention is that some of those rocking chairs are now sporting rainbow colors and the peg game was revised so as not to offend losers.
The game previously mocked losers: "Leave only one—you're a genius. Leave two and you're purty smart. Leave three and you're just plain dumb. Leave four or mor'n you're just plain eg-no-ra-moose."
Now, peg games say if you leave three or more, "Don't be embarrassed, try again!"
