Fleeing Texas Dems Packing It In, Returning to Work, as State Senate Passes Redistricting Map Without Them
[HotAir.com] It looks like Texas Democrats have decided their stunt has generated enough media that they can now declare victory and go home. There are reports at ABC News that the Dems who fled the state now plan to return having wasted an entire special session in hotels in California, Illinois and New York. ... For one, they are no longer getting paid (all checks must be picked up in person) and a judge ruled that Beto O'Rourke's political group could not pay for their travel, food and lodgings because it's fundamentally a vacation. Given that each Democrat is currently racking up $500 per day in fines for being absent from the special session, the pressure to return to work is definitely mounting.
