"And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness." (Colossians 2:6-7; NLT)

[Reformation Prayer Network] Mike and I look forward each year to the National Day of Prayer. While most of us pray regularly for the state of our nation, it is nice to have a day specifically set aside to honor the Lord together over America. (Image: via National Day of Prayer)

The Lord loves this nation where there are so many who have chosen Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. But, there are many more in need of Him! This year's theme focuses on strengthening our faith, so we can share Him with those that don't yet know Him. Let us join together in faith on this National Day of Prayer for a great harvest of souls in America!

Here is a letter from the National Day of Prayer Committee which provides information on how you can pray for America on Thursday:

Truly God has prepared us! We are just 3 days away from seeing God raise up and rally prayer gatherings throughout our nation, from community to community and from coast to coast and beyond. Millions of people in tens of thousands of local community events are prepared to come together to join their hearts and voices in prayer—then at 8 pm ET, tens of millions from over 200 countries, connected by television, radio, social media, and websites, are prepared to pray together with the National Day of Prayer Broadcast—exalting the Lord Who has established us!

In the spirit of being prepared for what God is going to do, here are some ways you can participate.

Post or Find a Local Event

If you haven't yet, please post your local event information on our National Day of Prayer Event Finder (click here). You can also search to find a local event near you.

The broadcast will be hosted by our president, Kathy Branzell, and will feature: Chris Tomlin, Matthew West, Robert Morris, Dr. Ed Young, Alan Jackson, Jack Graham, Joni Eareckson Tada, Ronnie Floyd, Skip Heitzig, Miles McPherson, Mark Batterson, Samuel Rodriguez, Lecrae, Anne Graham-Lotz, Nick Hall, Beth Jones, Mike Kai, Bishop Kenneth Ulmer, and many other of our well-known prayer partners.

As we prepare to gather in prayer Thursday, let's also prepare our hearts for God to will and to work through us in the midst of it all. Please pray with me ... Father, we come before You with a heart to exalt You, to glorify Your Name, and to stand in the gap for our nation. Lord, our leaders and our culture need You. As we gather [this] week to pray, pour out Your love, compassion, and concern into our hearts. Cleanse us of all fear and unbelief, and instill us with faith to believe that You are God Almighty and that Your Words are faithful and true—that "the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." In Jesus' name, amen. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
