SEU Outpouring Enters 'Next Phase' after 11 Days of Student-Led Revival"There's an unstoppable hunger. Students simply want to be in the presence of Jesus." -SEU President Kent Ingle
In an official statement released during the outpouring, SEU administrators reflected on what had unfolded across campus. "Over the past nine days, SEU has been living in a moment of unprecedented spiritual awakening," the university wrote. "Day and night, our campus has been filled with prayer and worship, testimonies of healing, repentance, and a deep awareness of the presence of God among us." What started as scheduled programming quickly expanded into extended gatherings marked by altar calls, prayer circles, worship services and students returning day after day to Bush Chapel. SEU President Kent Ingle said the outpouring emerged organically as students responded to what they believed God was doing on campus. "There's an unstoppable hunger. Students simply want to be in the presence of Jesus," Ingle told AG News. Ingle also described a moment early in the gathering "when the atmosphere shifted," sparking what AG News reported were raw responses from students that included repentance, prayer and emotional healing. University leaders emphasized they sought to steward the moment carefully. "From the beginning, we carried a strong conviction that it was our responsibility to create space for what we believed God was doing," the statement continued. "We have sought to steward this moment with sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, care for our students, and discernment through ongoing conversation with university leadership and trusted spiritual voices." As the revival stretched beyond a week, university leaders said they sensed a transition was approaching. "We now sense that we are entering the next phase of this spiritual movement, and we believe the time has come to shift from our current expression and begin dreaming about what it looks like to launch this moment into a broader movement," SEU said. "With that in mind, ... Friday 2/20 will be our final day of gathering in this format." The university said the final evening would serve as a celebration—"a time to celebrate all that God has done, share testimonies, and cast vision for the future of SEU as this outpouring becomes a season of pouring out what God has done here into the world." SEU Campus Pastor Jonathan Rivera also marked the moment on social media, writing, "10 days ago God began something special,"... "Please pray for our community," Rivera said, "for tonight and beyond." He also thanked those who had been interceding throughout the revival. "To all who have been praying ... thank you. We've felt it." The university closed its statement with a similar request: "Please continue to pray for us as we discern our next steps and as we step into this new season at Southeastern University." For 11 days, Bush Chapel became the focal point of extended worship gatherings drawing students back repeatedly for prayer and reflection. Now, university leaders say the goal is not to end what happened—but to carry it forward. As SEU transitions into what it calls the "next phase," administrators say their hope is that what began inside a campus chapel will move beyond it—into churches, communities and lives far beyond Lakeland.
