Ex-Atheist Filmmaker Explores Scientific Evidence for God in New Movie“I was talking with my wife about it, and it was actually her idea: ‘Why don’t you make a documentary showing others the evidence that convinced you?’ That was the spark that eventually became ‘Universe Designed...’” -Michael Ray Lewis
“I kind of became a more aggressive atheist because I wanted to challenge Christians,” Lewis told Movieguide®. Eventually, Lewis married a Believer who had distanced herself from God. One day she told Lewis that Jesus was calling her back to church. Lewis went to church with her at her request. Then, the director came across a Christian apologetics YouTube video and after researching for three years, he discovered that there was more scientific evidence for God’s existence than not. “There are constants, parameters and characteristics about our universe that have to be just right in order for life to exist on a planet like ours,” Lewis told Movieguide. “Well, it turns out the odds of these parameters happening are virtually impossible…. The odds are more remote than you being able to pick out a single proton from all the protons that exist in the entire universe.” Lewis came to realize that most (90%) Believers don’t know how to defend their faith. He made this documentary for them and for anyone who is curious about the science of Christianity. “I was talking with my wife about it, and it was actually her idea: ‘Why don’t you make a documentary showing others the evidence that convinced you?’ That was the spark that eventually became ‘Universe Designed,’” he told The Christian Post. He says Jesus really existed. What the Bible says is true. “Jesus really is who He claimed to be. And so it really comes down to the question, are you willing to submit your life to Him? Because the evidence is there,” Lewis said. “The evidence is strong. And so, one of the things I challenge even at the end of the film is that it’s all laid out. And so it’s really up to you. Jesus is standing right in front of you.” Movieguide® gave the documentary a +2 rating. Part of the review reads, “UNIVERSE DESIGNED has very strong Biblical and Christian worldview arguing that God made the universe.
