Danelo Cavalcante, the convicted felon who has been on the run for two weeks, was brought into custody this morning. During a press conference led by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, members of the media were informed that there were no shots fired or injuries to any law enforcement or citizens during the arrest.

Shortly after midnight, a residential burglar alarm within the search perimeter sounded and brought investigators to the area. Law enforcement did not find Cavalcante or anyone else at the home, but authorities continued to pour into the area. Around 1 a.m., the DEA sent a fixed-wing aircraft into the airspace utilizing FLIR technology and picked up a heat signal. Tactical teams converged on the heat source.

A weather event also moved into the area and lightning forced the aircraft to the ground. Tactical teams held the smaller area throughout the storm to prevent Cavalcante's movement. Just after 8 a.m., law enforcement moved in and surprised Cavalcante, who did not realize he was surrounded. Undeterred, the fugitive crawled through thick brush with his rifle, prompting the law enforcement canine to be released.

Cavalcante sustained a minor bite wound and was treated at the scene by medical personnel. The felon has arrived at a nearby station for further processing and interview, facilitated by a translator.
