Family Surprises Six Siblings in Foster Care With Adoption for Christmas

Bridget Sielicki : Dec 30, 2021  Live Action News

"It's a dream come true to be able to adopt children. I hate it that they were in foster care, but at least we get to give them a good life…They're safe, and they're happy, and we're their parents." -Angela Turbeville

[LiveAction.org] One 10-year-old Georgia girl had an important Christmas wish this year: to be adopted. Much to her surprise and delight, her wish was granted in more ways than she could have imagined—she and her five siblings were all adopted into one family. (Screengrab image)

A heartwarming story in the Ledger-Inquirer details how couple Angela and Elliott Turbeville surprised the children with the news that they were all being adopted. The couple had been fostering the children since 2019.

They've asked for two years, they just want to stay, they just want to be adopted," Angela told the news outlet, later adding, "They have zero clues that this is happening."

While the children were preparing to head to school like any other morning, they all got a special surprise when they went outside and saw a huge sign saying "Its Adoption Day!" on the lawn. When they realized the truth, they all shouted with glee. (Screengrab image)

"Coming right before Christmas, this is like the perfect time. ... I'm just amazed and excited because we've been waiting for this a long time," one of the children told the Ledger-Inquirer.

In an effort to make the day extra-special, Angela and Elliot rented a party bus to take the family to court for their adoption ceremony.

The couple talked about their road to fostering and eventual adoption, deciding that they would open their home to children in need once they realized that they could no longer have children of their own.

"Anyone we talk to says, 'We don't know how you can do this, this is crazy, you already have so much going on,'" Angela said. "So it's always, 'Why, how?'" But Elliot has a simple explanation, "I always tell people we had three, so what's a few more, right? It's just a number," he said.

After working for nearly two years, the couple finally got clearance to adopt the children. Angela says that they have one more sibling, who she is still working to adopt. "I feel like I'm almost at the end of a marathon," she said.

In celebration of the event, the courtroom was filled with family and friends. "This is going to be a wonderful holiday, everything is official," Judge Maureen Gottfried told the children at their adoption ceremony. "You already were a family, let's face it, but now you are legally a family." (Screengrab image)

"It's a Christmas to remember," Elliott said. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
