Chick-fil-A Breaks Its Own Rule: Opens on Sunday to Serve Hurricane Florence Victims

The restaurant's Sunday policy is pretty iron-clad in order to ensure its workers get enough rest and are able to attend church if they so wish. But when a crisis hits, it doesn't matter what day it is—Chick-fil-A always seems to answer the call.

(Garner, NC)—[Faithwire.com] As you may well know, Christian-owned fast-food restaurant chain, Chick-fil-A, insists on closing its doors every Sunday. The decision was first taken all the way back in 1946, and is designed to give employees a chance to rest and worship. Though they rarely break their self-imposed rules, this past Sunday the popular eatery decided to make an exception. Don't be fooled, though, this was no attempt to lift profit margins by drawing customers in on God's day. Instead, one of its North Carolina branches called its employees in to cook up some of their signature chicken for the victims of Hurricane Florence. (Image via Chick-fil-A.com)

Branch owners Donovan and Nikki Carless decided to provide a hot meal to all those who have been forced out of their homes, as reported by WLOS. So, in collaboration with the American Red Cross, this amazing couple took Chick-fil-A's delicious chicken sandwiches to the masses, distributing about 500 of them to stricken residents and hand-delivering some 1200 nuggets to a number of different shelters.

"While Chick-fil-A restaurants are always closed for business on Sunday, some local restaurant teams volunteer to serve their communities in times of crisis," the chain said in a statement to Business Insider... Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here.
