Texas Pastor Mark Lee Dickson, who has been advocating on behalf of the family throughout the entire ordeal, today confirmed to Faithwire that the guardianship order had been granted.

"We have good news. Temporary guardianship of Jonathan Michel has been awarded to Wren Michel!" he said.

Dickson also told Faithwire that Jonathan has continued to make noted improvement in his medical condition.

"Monday a physician's assistant came to talk with Karen about Jonathan. He said Jonathan is ready to be moved from Critical ICU," Pastor Dickson told Faithwire. "Jonathan's infections are down, his temperature is down, and healing is happening with his incisions. Which is why he's going to put in for Jonathan to be moved to a room. We were told that the hospital was waiting until the court's ruling before they did anything. So today, after they receive those papers they will be acting upon them."

In a wonderfully positive Facebook post, Karen gave further details regarding her son's condition and testified as to the remarkable power of God working through this incredibly tough situation.

"I to want express our thankfulness for each and every prayer you've spoken on behalf of Jonathan Michel, Wren Michel, and our family," she wrote. "Without a doubt this has been the most difficult time of our lives. We want to thank you for your words of support and the kindness you've shown us from around the world."

The post continued:

"We thank God, He heard all of our prayers and answered in ways only He could. Five weeks ago we had little to no hope for our son's life, today doctors and medical staff are astonished with his improvement. He's close to leaving ICU and moving to another area of the hospital for a short time while we seek a place willing to help him with physical, speech therapy & more without the help of medical insurance it may be extremely difficult or humanly impossible, but with God all things are possible!! I will not count out a miracle, I know we serve a God of miracles!! Please continue to pray for Jonathan's healing and medical needs. As his family, we love him and only want the absolute best for his future."

WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND OF THIS CASE?

Jonathan Michel, a 39-year-old father from Malakoff, Texas, suffered a severe head injury after falling to the ground June 30. He was rushed to East Medical Center in Tyler, Texas, where doctors found that the impact had caused extensive damage to the left side of his brain – he was almost totally paralyzed down the right side of his body.

The doctors told Jonathan's dad, Wren, to get hold of his wife, Karen, who happened to be on a mission trip to Africa. Medics insisted that decisions had to be made about Jonathan's long-term care. But before Karen could catch a flight home, Jonathan's estranged wife, Jacqueline Dalton, showed up and told the medical team that the 39-year-old would not want to be kept alive in his current state.

But Mark Dickson, pastor of Sovereign LOVE Church in Longview, Texas, told Faithwire that Dalton has now been handed a medical restraining order, effectively preventing her from pulling Jonathan's life support.

"The estranged wife of Jonathan Michel has been issued a medical restraining order. This medical restraining order prevents Jackie Dalton from denying any life-saving medical intervention needed for Jonathan Michel and prevents her from the pulling of the plug of any device needed to sustain his life," Dickson explained to Faithwire.
